  • Devin Bryson's suggestions

Right now I’m most interested in the delineation of the banlieue in French society. The 2005 suburban riots in France are just one manifestation of the crossings that are being imagined between cultural, economic, and racial borders within this space.

A number of recent novels have been important in understanding this:

    • Mamadou Mahmoud N’Dongo – El Hadj, 2008, Le Serpent à Plumes
    • Yémy – Suburban Blues, 2005, Robert Laffont
    • Wilfrid N’Sonde – Le cœur des enfants léopards, 2007, Actes Sud
